Do you remember the first time you saw the scene where Noah walked out onto the balcony and looked down to find Allie had chosen to come back in The Notebook? How about when Dorothy spun her way through space and time landing in a far off place only to realize that there’s no place like home? The experience of returning home is a powerful emotion we can all relate to. Which is why we were a bit disappointed when none of the films nominated for Best Picture by the Academy for this year’s Oscars included a scene featuring a strong “coming home” depiction.
In lieu of that, we’ve put together a list of 6 nominees that we think showcase very unique concepts of that “coming home” feeling. From coming home from war to coming home from space – we’ve even got your typical “escape from flying monkeys and wicked witches” experience. Voting will be available at Coldwell Banker’s Blue Matter blog until 12 a.m. EST on 2/26. Vote as often as you like and we’ll unveil the winner right here on 2/27.
Remember to catch the Oscars on Sunday, March 2, where we will be debuting our second TV ad for 2014.
Update:
Blue Matter, Coldwell Banker Real Estate’s blog, has announced that Apollo 13’s journey back to Earth from the dark edges of space was overwhelmingly viewed as the greatest coming home scene in movie history according to their readers. With over 2,000 consumers participating, the historical film nearly doubled the second place scene which was from The Wizard of Oz! For all the details, please visit Blue Matter.
