Summer break is upon us, and with it the challenge for many families to find ways to entertain kids while school is out. Having multiple kids means multiple schedules, varying likes and dislikes, and different levels of energy and agility during activity. With 25 rides and attractions, Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii waterpark and Island Adventure Golf offers something for everyone, from families looking to relax and cool off in warm tropical waters to thrill-seekers searching for an adrenaline boost.
KEIKI
Babies just want to have fun. And they can. The keiki areas are shallow and easy to let even the newest humans try their hands and feet and splashing and kicking.
- The littlest tadpoles can safely play in Keiki Cove, dodging dumping water buckets and water cannons, while dancing under the mushroom water shower in the middle of the splashground. Perfect for ages 6 and under, young children giggle and cheer as they slide down one of two pint-sized water slides, or those that have the nerve can try out one of two bigger slides, perfect for young children not ready for the Water World Playground.
- Kids can play to their heart’s delight in the Water World Playground, a 20,000-square-foot aquatic adventure playground. Children up to 12 years old will find fun and adventure as they test their skills on the lily pad walk and log walk, or cool off under the giant tipping bucket when it spills 300 gallons of water to squeals of delight. The colorful, multi-level children’s area is filled with loads of kid-friendly slides and interactive water cannons.
- The Keiki Carnival on August 16 from 4 – 9 pm will feature face painters, clowns, jugglers, balloon twisters, carnival booth type games with free prizes, live entertainment by various kid bands and games provided by sponsors.
TWEENS & TEENS
For your family members at that age where they are too cool to be seen in public with you, there are many options for them to escape your presence — safely.
- Adrenaline addicts can enjoy slides like the Shaka, which plunges guests down a nearly vertical, 36-foot drop into a U-shaped slide to experience a zero-gravity sensation.
- Get caught in the Tornado, a scream of a tunnel that catapults guests in groups of two to four through a swirling 45-foot funnel right into the eye of the storm before ending in calmer waters.
- For the first time ever, Wet ‘n’ Wild will host Twilight events where the park will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. every third Saturday in June, July and August. These late hours mean maximizing your admission dollar and being able to have a safe place for the most energetic members of the family to cruise. For example, Moms can start the day at the park with the keiki, go home for nap time and dinner, and return for some evening fun— not to mention a great way to cool off on those hot summer nights. This is also a safe and engaging environment for families to bring tweens and teens to socialize in the evening.
TOGETHER TIME
Families that play together stay together. For those wanting activities that everyone can do together, there are a variety of options on land and in the water.
- Accommodating up to six guests at a time, families on a giant water tube travel over 600 feet on the Raging River, whipping around canyon walls, sharp turns and steep drops, including a 40-foot fall.
- Relaxing for all ages, leisurely wind your way through 800 feet of lush landscaping at Kapolei Kooler. Never boring with twists, turns, a waterfall and water spout, cool off together in this winding river ideal of everyone.
- Visitors of all ages can enjoy Hawaiian Waters, the massive 400,000-gallon wave pool with rotating wave and calm action. Grab an innertube or just swim in the pool.
- Wet ‘n’ Wild also has cabanas, dining areas, and mini golf for those members of the family who don’t want to get wet.
