Blue Marlin is the new restaurant that has taken over the old Mateo’s space in Marine Surf on Kuhio, in the heart of Waikiki.  The restaurant has been completely renovated, complete with a open lanai seating and seafood bar.  The fresh new look will definitely draw in the costumers, but it’s the great food that will keep them coming back.  Their daily specials include seafood imported from the world famous Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan.

My family and I had the chance to try out Blue Marlin twice, and both times I left extremely happy and full.  While the price is on the higher side, the food is worth it.

One thing I have been blown away by is the Uni (sea urchin,). Prior to living in Japan I had enjoyed Uni in Hawaii, but after living in Japan I couldn’t eat Uni, because it just tasted horrible to me.  This, however, was just amazing. The minute the Uni hit my tongue it melted into deliciousness.

Then I tried the Spicy Ahi Paella. It had rich, bold flavors that for some strange reason matched so well with the Spicy Ahi.
