A project I’ve always wanted to try was to reupholster a chair. I’ve reupholstered chairs that required just a staple gun and your favorite fabric, but never one that required a sewing machine and a mallet. I was up for the challenge.

I found this beautiful vintage chair at an antique store for $40 and instantly fell in love. It was the perfect size with the right amount of decorative details.

It took a while for me to actually get started because I wanted to find the right fabric that was just my style. Once I had all my supplies and tools, I got started taking the chair apart. When removing the old fabric from the chair, I tried to keep as much of it intact so that I’d be able to use it as a template when cutting out my new fabric.

I think the hardest part for me was in the detail of the chair. Sewing on the piping and hammering down new tacks on top of the chair was something I’ve never done before.  Thankfully for YouTube, there is no shortage of “how to” videos.

It took me about two weeks to finish up the chair because I didn’t want to rush the process and I also wanted to make sure everything was done right. The end result is this beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece that brings a whole lot of character to a room.

You’ve heard my story, now I want to hear yours! If you’ve ever reupholstered anything, let me know how it went below!
