Just a short drive along Vineyard Boulevard and a few blocks away from Chinatown and Honolulu’s business district, lies Foster Botanical Garden. This 14-acre garden is the oldest of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens that includes Ho‘omaluhia, Koko Crater, Koko Crater, Wahiawa and Lili‘uokalani Botanical Garden.
Take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the beauty of nature.
A few highlights of the garden include the Conservatory, Outdoor Butterfly Garden, Palm Garden and more.
If you go at the right time, you may be able to catch the rare Amorphophallus titanum, or Corpse flower, which is a beautiful (and large) flower that also smells like its name – a rotting corpse. At the time when we visited, we missed the bloom by a few days.
On July 19, the garden will be transformed to a luminous wonderland for their Midsummer Night’s Gleam event from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Admission is free for this family-friendly event so be sure to check it out.
